OKLAHOMA TODAY Magazine - Mar/Apr Edition |
|
Oklahoma Today, presents a feature story on the "Rockin' Acoustic Circus" in the March/April 2009 edition! Award winning Oklahoma Today, is the state's official magazine since 1956. "Rick Morton once made a career out of fighting four-alarm fires. Now, as "ringmaster" of the Rockin' Acoustic Circus, he's fanning the flames of one of Oklahoma's hottest up-and-coming bands. The band's combination of tenacity and talent has wowed crowds and critics across the state and region." Visit :www.oklahomatoday.com.
The band caught the attention of Oklahoma Bluegrass Legend, Byron Berline: "The thing that impresses me about the Rockin' Acoustic Circus is that the band strives for originality, bringing their own distinctive style to bluegrass standards. They step out and do traditional tunes their own way. They're not copycats, and you see copycats all the time in bluegrass. They bring their own style and feel to it." ~BYRON BERLINE, Oklahoma Legend & Three-Time National Fiddle Champ |

CONCERT W/DAROL ANGER & PHIL AABERG |
|
Our concert with Darol Anger and Phil Aaberg was a blast! We really enjoyed our time with them; they are truly inspirational! The highlight for us was having Darol join us on stage for a finale performance. Here is a link to the video finale: "Swing 51".
Currently, Darol plays in Psychograss, performs with The Duo: Darol Anger & Mike Marshall and Vasen. He also co-founded the "Republic of Strings" and dedicates himself to mentoring young string musicians. Pianist Aaberg honed his chamber music skills at Harvard and has presented his American West-inspired music all over the world, both in powerful solo concerts and with organizations such as the Boston Pops Orchestra, Peter Gabriel, Elvin Bishop, Paul Dresher, Phil Collins, and the Doobie Brothers. |
